Best Cruelty-Free False Lashes

With the holidays approaching, falsies are one of the easiest & quickest ways to amp up your look for that office Christmas party. With the right lash, you can also skip the eyeliner altogether!

Application Tips:
Before starting, curl your lashes & apply a thin coat of waterproof mascara (to hold the curl). This will give your falsies a base to rest on. Also remember that practice makes perfect, especially with falsies!

Step 1) Apply a thin layer of lash glue (my current go-to is Duo, in the green tube) to the lash band.
Step 2) Wait 30-60 seconds for the glue to become tacky before applying.
Step 3) Start by placing the lash at the outer corner of your eye, with your eyes open.
Step 4) Use a pair of tweezers to secure the middle section of the lash to your lash line.
Step 5) Now use the tweezers to secure the lash to the inner corner of your eye.
Step 6) Allow to dry (I usually finish my complexion makeup during this time), then press your natural lash into the false lash with the pads of your thumb & middle finger. I usually press a little mascara onto the pads of these two fingers before doing so & find this is my favourite method for ensuring that the false lash is undetectable. Alternatively, you can apply a coat of (non-waterproof) mascara using the conventional method. You can also curl your natural lash with the false one, but be careful not to press too hard & risk ripping the false lash off.
Step 7) In order to remove the falsies, I usually run a q-tip dipped in a non-oil based makeup remover over the lash band before peeling them off.

Now that we have the application down, below are a few of my favourite lashes!

#1: Shop Face by Meagan
The creator of this lash line is Meagan, a fellow Canadian makeup artist based in Saskatchewan. I can honestly say without a doubt that these are the most comfortable lashes I have ever worn. Despite how fluffy & dramatic they are, they also blend seamlessly into your natural lash line, making them an easy pick. Slight teaser: I'll be retailing these beauties in the upcoming year as a true testament to how much I love them!

#2: Ardell
These have been a staple in my kit for years & Ardell's Demi Wispies are probably my most-used lashes for bridal makeup! Baby Wispies are fantastic for anyone who wears glasses, as they're shorter in length, while 110s are a classic natural style, perfect for no makeup makeup looks.

#3: Miss 3D Lashes
I discovered these guys last year & they're the perfect alternative to a more expensive faux mink lash. They must have a million different styles, so I will warn you that it does take some time to nail down your favourites! Some of mine: M329, M319, M347, M359 & M368.

#4: Sonia Roselli Drop Lashes
Last but not least, these bad boys are a fluffy, gorgeous alternative to strip lashes & are a new-found favourite of mine for clients with sensitive eyes. They're comfortable to wear, easy to apply & give you the look of mink lashes, without the cruelty or thick band! Oh & it doesn't hurt that Sonia Roselli is a powerhouse makeup artist & entrepreneur from Chicago.
